7-Eleven Jumps into the Mobile Marketing Arena
There are 200 7-Eleven stores in San Diego who are testing a mobile marketing campaign wherein consumers can send a SMS to get free beverages.
During the test period, users can send a text to a pre-defined number and they will get a message on their cell phone that gives they a free beverage at 7-Eleven. The promotion is limited to one free drink per day at the San Diego locations who are participating.
The Slurpee, Big Gulp, hot coffee and iced coffee are all featured in the test since they are the hottest selling beverages sold by the convenience store giant.
7-Eleven’s mobile marketing test is being supported by radio, outdoor signs and mobile advertising. The stores will also promote the test with bilingual point of purchase sign-ups.
As more and more people are carrying cell phones and keeping them with them everywhere they go, more and more companies are jumping on the mobile marketing band wagon.
It is estimated that 90% of all text messages sent are actually read and this is great news for the companies wise enough to earmark part of their marketing budgets to mobile marketing campaigns!
