About the Mobile Search Market
Many more people are accessing their email from their cell phones today and mobile search is becoming more and more popular each day. Google has even released a special Gmail client for mobile devices on the heels of Yahoo, which has been offering the service for quite some time.
Every one of the major search engines offers a customized version for cell phones and each is working hard on expanding their market reach. In the meantime, mobile search startups are trying to create mobile search tools for integration into cellular devices and networks.
In the future, most website owners will produce mobile versions of their sites for mobile browsers. There are already many html-to-wml converter tools available today but as long as standard xhtml coding is not applied initially, it is not so likely that those tools will work in every case. Website owners are being told to comply with xhtml or to have all of their content stored in xml and the display adjusted with xslt.
The major search engines are also experimenting with mobile search advertising and are working through the problems associated with viewing content on a tiny screen. With time, mobile search will be an everyday thing that most of us take for granted, but for now, ground is still being broken and the kinks are being worked out.
