Submitting your website URL (www.yourname.com) to an online Directory is a great source for getting text links to the website as well as improving your websites page rank.
Many submissions to online directories are a great best place to start promoting a new site. Be sure that you submit your site to directories that have a high page rank and that are listed in Google for the best results. Many web directories offer text links for free, if you exchange a link, some are even free.
If you do run across a directory that is a paid submission, be sure to do some research on the directory before forking out your money. You will want to check the sites Google PR, see how old the site is (the older the better), make sure it’s not blacklisted, ask around in SEO forums if the directory is an authority site.
