Does Adwords boost your site’s ranking?

Posted on Monday 11 August 2008

AdWords is a pay-per-click online advertising service that lets advertisers post text ads for their sites targeted for specific keywords. If a visitor click on these ads, they will be directed to the advertiser’s website.

One of the major factors to improve the search engine ranking is inbound links. Links to your website from high quality (higher ranking) websites that are directly relevant to your site content is a great strategy to boost your rankings. For example, links from government and education sites are particularly useful strategies to boost your organic rankings when they are relevant to your content.

Google’s Adwords program is essentially offering inbound links to your website. When you join Google’s AdWords program, it allows more people to visit your website and hence creates more network traffic. Some SEO experts think this will end up increasing your site’s rankings in the search engines, but many some people think Google would ignore adwords links as link counts because that wouldn’t be fair to all, it’s a debatable topic. Either way, it is easy to see how AdWords can lend a helping hand to your SEO endeavor for your site.
