Google’s Purchase of AdMob Solidifies It’s Future as Leader in Mobile Marketing
With Google’s AdMob purchase, it proves even further what many people already guessed for a while now-that mobile marketing will be dominated by the big players for some time into the near future.
Google had enhanced both its AdSense and AdWords programs, telling the world that it was serious about mobile marketing. The significance of the buyout of AdMob is that it shows that Google is reaching deep into the realm of mobile app monetization.
The combination of Google and AdMob will no doubt create a mobile advertising giant that will dominate around 35 percent of the total market segment.
AdMob was THE provider for monetizing apps on the iPhone and Android and it is a business model that made $100 million annually in just a few short years. Google is counting on the future of its mobile advertising reach and it will surely pay off in a big way in the very near future.
Mobile marketing has been popular in Western Europe and in Asia. It is just now being taken seriously in the US. It had been virtually impossible to send and receive text messages in the US from one carrier to another carrier, but with the advancements in technology, those barriers no longer exists.

Will Google/AdMob be dominant? Since all networks refuse to reveal revenue, it’s extremely difficult to work out market shares. Also it is important to note that most mobile ad networks are not alike. As AdMob is a blind network it caters to an entirely different publisher and advertiser than a premium network. If you want to know more about how different ad networks are please see the profiles of all the top networks in this guide: http://www.mobithinking.com/mobile-ad-network-guide
