Google’s Webmaster Guidelines
Google Search Engine is very stringent about the quality of the websites which appear on the search results. There are a set of guidelines set by Google, known as Google’s Webmaster Guidelines, which can reward a website with high ranking if followed. Some of these guidelines include:
– Site must have clear hierarchy and appropriate text links.
– Offer site map for the users.
– Informative and unique content.
– Include proper keywords.
– Title tags and Alt attributes must be accurate.
– Allow Search bots to crawl the site without session IDs or path tracking arguments.
– Use robot.txt file on the web server so that the bots know about the directories that can be crawled or not.
Keeping these guidelines and others in mind can help a webmaster or website owner earn higher rankings and greater visibility in the Google search.
