How Google Ranks Tweets
Many online marketers routinely use Twitter to ‘tweet’ marketing message to their followers in an attempt to get them to click their links and hopefully buy something from their site.
Google was not so eager to reveal how they would rank tweets and other real-time results but now the company has revealed via an interview how they look at tweets.
Google has said that it is not how many followers you have, but it is about how reputable those followers are. Getting good links from reputable sources helps your content in the eyes of Google. In other words, if one of your followers is a heavy hitter and clicks on your link Google will look kindly at that link.
Google also says that it plans to factor in geo-location data with regard to tweets into the real time search results. Google’s strategy for ranking tweets keeps in with how it ranks content from other sources that it considers reputable.
So, it’s up to you whether you want to ‘tweet’ out your website on Google. However vague, at least it’s something coming from Google related to ‘tweeting’ on Twitter.
