Advertising & Marketing Design Trends for 2010

As the web grows each year we often see new design trends come and go and this year is no different. Whether you’re designing a website or an online advertisement it’s always a good idea to keep up-to-date with the new design trends.

This year we’re seeing a lot more sites with ‘magazine’ layouts, it’s becoming very popular for 2010, especially with blog sites. The information is displayed much like a magazine that is sure to grab the attention of readers.

For websites, we’re starting to see more and more hand drawn sketches, for example you charts used to be 3D glossy graphics in ‘08 and towards the end of 2009 we started to see hand drawn sketch images to illustrate diagrams, charts or even call to actions on landing pages.

Another trend that will surely catch on is replacing icons for text. Using a small icon for a whole section instead of words is both appealing and recognizable to readers. White backgrounds and simplicity in site design for businesses will become big again. softer color schemes are starting to show up again which can give a very professional look.

Finally, have you noticed the increase in cartoon online advertising? Websites, banners, media ads – many of them branding with cartoon mascots or cool animation. We’re seeing them pop up all over.
