Page Speed May Affect Google Ranking in 2010
Throughout 2009, Google has been consistently mentioning speed in announcement after announcement and the company has talked about how important speed is on the web and how they want to do what they can to make the web a faster experience. In light of this, perhaps it is a time to consider how fast your pages load because they may soon have a direct effect on how your site ranks.
Google’s Matt Cutts said that the web experience should be a good one for everyone and said that if you have a fast speed maybe you should get a bit of a bonus. If you have a slow site on the other hand, then users will not access it as much.
Based on Cutt’s statements it is fair to assume that Google will start to take page speed into consideration when ranking websites even though he did not come out and say it directly. Making your site faster will ensure that you get customers so you might as well optimize your site for speed. Google recently brought Site Speed site to the market which gives webmasters some tools aimed at speeding up their pages.
If you truly want your site to perform its best in the search engines, then you should take some time to think about your load times and make adjustments as needed to stay ahead of your competitors.
