PPC and Click Fraud
Click Fraud needs to be tracked.
In your Google paid search (PPC) network you should watch out for click fraud. This is when competition clicks on your ads in hopes to run your bill up and get you out of the competition. This is an unfortunate side effect of PPC and it happens with almost all pay per click campaigns whether it’s Google, Yahoo, Msn or others.
One thing you can do to try and monitor or manage your click fraud is to download a click fraud tracking tool or watch your website traffic, once you’ve done this look at your web visit stats and see if you can identify a domain or domains that bring you traffic with a high bounce rate, around 80%. Google will let you enter these domains into a “negative excluded sites†folder to try and get rid of your click fraud traffic. Other PPC networks you’ll have to call and advise them of the problem.
