Selecting Ad Formats – Some Tips That Work
How do you decide which ad formats would work for your online marketing campaigns? This will sound odd but what often influences our decisions may not be the same things that are a client’s interests. Convenience, familiarity and availability are often the most important factors behind an effective ad campaign.
A recent report on the value of branding campaigns and the advertising programs that works highlighted the following points:
* To improve purchase intent, use rich media with video. This also improves the brand’s favorability and awareness.
* To increase brand awareness, message association, brand favorability, and purchase intent, use rich media without video.
* To improve message association, use GIF and JPG ads. These are hard to ignore and best suited for direct response type of campaigns.
* Avoid using a simple flash ad. It’s the least effective format.
Some ad campaigns might be tempted to use a barrage of formats to try to hit the largest audience they can. Others strictly rely on formats that worked from a previous online advertising campaign. Neither of these methods is usually very effective for generating sales. It is important to be sure formats will help promote your clients’ goals. Follow a plan that has taken into consideration the benefits of each format and how they align with what your client needs.
