SERPs are “Search Engine Result Pages”
The listing of different web pages which are returned by the search engines like Google or Yahoo in response to a given keyword query are known as a SERP (Search Engine Result Page). The results which are returned normally have different web pages with titles, or a link to a page or may also display a short description.
Depending on the frequency of the query, the search engines make caches and when the keyword is searched the SERP cache is given out instead of a new SERP. SERPs are periodically updated for any new pages and also to modify the page rankings.
Performing good SEO (Search Engine Optimization) on your website helps you to get reliable positions on the SERPs, meaning you can get displayed on page 1 of the results using SEO. Many surfers don’t often browse past pages 1,2 or 3 on the SERPs so if you listed past position 30 for your keywords you probably won’t get much traffic.
