Online advertising involves constantly reviewing what works, both for you and for your competition. If you and your competitors are in the same niche, and article marketing is part of both your repertoire, you need to get an edge. Make a comparative chart of all the online marketing strategies you and, as far as you know, your competitor is doing. Try to be fair and judge how each strategy is working out for you and for the other camp.
If his websites are getting more traffic than you, what could he be doing or doing well that you are not? Consult the list. Could he be maintaining multiple sites that constantly get fresh articles optimized on the same keywords you’re targeting? If so, how is he doing that? Is he hiring more writers to churn out original content? Or did he keep to his staff and just buy an article spinner?
If you’re into article directory submissions as well, you’re bound to see articles with links that lead to his site or sites. Survey the article directories you know about and search using keywords you know will lead to his niche. Is he outperforming you in terms of quantity and quality articles that link back to his sites?
Lastly, visit his site often to find out if and when he offers discounts and promotions, and take part in his newsletter under a false name. That way you can keep tabs on what he’s doing.
