What are Web Bots
A web bot, also known as a bot, web crawler, web spider or web robot is an application or automated script designed to methodically search the internet to find updated content and information from websites and transport the information to a database.
This practice helps make sure that internet users receive the most accurate, current and fresh content when they search the internet. Search engines index the information the is gathered by the web bots in their databases in order to provide users with faster search results.
Other uses for web bots include, but are not limited to website validation, link checking, and even for collecting email addresses listed on webpages.
