What is Contextual Advertising All About?
Every person who goes online has specific needs and desires when they begin to search for something they might find on the web. They have a context from which they are searching. Contextual advertising is a way to determine the needs of the person browsing online and then finding other websites or products that may be of interest to the searcher.
This is done by using keywords found on the page the customer is viewing and then translating those keywords into specific advertisements. An advertisement may pop-up or the site being viewed may have advertisements embedded in it. When the customer clicks the pop-up or advertisement, they are taken another product or to a similar website. The owner of new website being viewed is most likely paying advertising dollars to the owner of the website originally being viewed, thus increasing revenues for both websites.
Because of the targeted advertising, many online stores and services have seen significant earning increases. Targeting the audience that comes to your website is a way to make sure you give the customer what he or she is seeking, either by offering the product or offering another website with the product needed.
