Google Dance

The “Google Dance” is a period of time when the popular search engine Google is rebuilding its rankings, and the organic search results (natural search positions) fluctuate for about a 2 to 6 day period. The name “Google Dance” is commonly used by SEO professionals to simply describe a period of time that a major index update of the Google search engine is in process. No one really knows when these updates occur, but most SEO professionals believe that Google performs index updates every 30 to 50 days or 8 to 10 times per year.

It is quite easy to keep track of any updates that may occur for your website by simply check regularly on your link back counts (that’s if you are running an active link campaign for your website). If you see a significant jump in your linkbacks (up or down) and see a PR change on your site pages you might be dealing with a google dance.
