Yahoo’s Content Quality Guidelines
The most important that perhaps most of us forget while creating a website is the guidelines set by the search engines. Yahoo like any other search engine has its own set of guidelines that is should be followed by any website. Depending upon whether the site has followed those guidelines, the search results may be fruitful. Some of the guidelines set by Yahoo! Search include:
– Unique and original content. The content must be rich in quality and should be informative and relevant.
– The pages should be designed basically for humans and not for the search engines (for getting higher rankings).
– Hyperlinks must be included only when there is some relevancy, i.e. the hyperlinks must be useful and informative.
– Metadata must be included for accurate description of a web page.
– Web design must be good in general. (coded well)
The irony is that many web pages do not contain relevant information for the users at all, many are overally optimized for search engines and as many SEO experts know, over optimizing doesn’t help any site.
